Book Building Opening Exhibition,
Tara Books, Chennai

Exhibition design & curation

In 2011 Tara Books opened their new home of the book arts, housing their offices, a shop, guesthouse, studio and gallery. To launch the building the opening exhibition looked back at the last two decades through the narrative of the books themselves.

Books covers and spreads we curated according to six major themes that had come to define Tara’s approach. Playful visual and text-based links were made between the books by placing open spreads and covers one after the other in a continuous flow. The books were mounted directly onto the wall, held open with transparent wire, to give the effect of floating books and showcasing the exquisite artwork and typographic play of Tara’s publications

Several smaller exhibits showcased books alongside related artworks, dotted throughout the space.
